Ground and pound

Ground & Pound is a fantastic system as a martial art and as a fitness component. It will add strength and technique to your stand-up striking systems, act as a second side to your submission groundwork and get you outstandingly fit and strong. Despite a popular opinion ground and pound is in fact a system of marital arts all on its own. It is also a great way to use a punch bag if you do not have anywhere to hang one but are looking to utilise bag work, al you need is an old punch bag or large striking pad and a floor. In this system you will learn to another over an opponent while keeping them pinned down, switching from multiple positions and side mounts to make sure no matter what your opponent’s actions you can still find the best angle to strike from without letting them stan back up. Working on a verity of blows including punched, elbows, shoulder strikes and knees to target the entire opponent’s body from both close in and with a gap. This method will teach you to be able to strike from below a mount or above with equal power and efficiently. These techniques will ensure you break through anyone’s ground game, prevent them from wanting them to take you to the ground ever again or just making sure you have a strong ground game without the need for submissions. You will develop a large level of strength to your striking both on the ground and stand-up teaching you to use your full body and angles to their maximum potential.
